Why This Counseling Facility?

There are many counseling facilities, that each offer specialized treatment and clinical skills. Each counselor brings his or her unique capabilities and counseling wisdom to the therapuetic relationship. In addition to skills and knowledge, there is something unique that sets this counseling facility apart from many others, and that is a deep sense of purpose and calling to the work of counseling.  This purpose outflows from a commitment to and faith in Christ, and a desire to serve Him by serving others.  This sense of faith leads to care and concern for people as they journey through the stages of life.  The primary goal of this counseling facility is build hope in others, and to encourage them to move beyond their pain and into a life full of purpose and promise.

Kendra H. Gilbert, LPC

Kendra H. Gilbert graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling in 2001.  Since then she has served both adolescents and adults, individuals, couples and families in a clinical setting.  She openned Beyond Today Counseling Center in 2006, with the goal of serving her community by providing counseling services to adolescents and adults, by addressing each individual in a wholistic manner.  Kendra's belief is that every individual can live a life full of purpose and meaning, as well as a life of peace and hope, as long as the individual seeks optimal health pychologically, emotionally, physically and spiritually.  Families also function best when each individual is working on being his or her best self.  Kendra's areas of expertise are addiction, anxiety related disorders, depression and other mood disorders, eating disorders, communication issues, relationship problems, oppositional adolescents, parenting and co-parenting, change of life issues, grief and loss, forgivenss and healing, stress management and trauma recovery.

Christi Thompson, MS, LAPC

Christi Thompson is a 2008 graduate of North Georgia College and State University.  She received a Masters of Science in Community Counseling, and after graduation entered solo practice at Balanced Life Solutions, Inc., where she served both adolescents and adults.  In 2011 Christi joined Beyond Today Counseling Center, LLC, where she continues to provide counseling services to individuals and families with issues pertaining to anxiety and depression, communication issues, relationship struggles, parenting and co-parenting, major life decisions, stress management and self-esteem struggles.  Chrisi's treatment approach is to consider the individual and the family system in a wholistic manner.  She strives to help others create balance in their lives by addressing their physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual needs.


Lisa C. Zimmerman, LCSW
 
Lisa graduated from the University of Illinois in 1984 with a Masters in Social Work.  Since then, she has served children, adults, couples, families, and groups in clinical settings across the country. Lisa has been married 25 years and has two children in college.  Lisa will begin the therapy process with a thorough assessment which will provide the foundation for defining the challenges and goals you want to address in therapy. Lisa will help you set specific goals to facilitate the changes in your life you are seeking.  Lisa's areas of expertise include: Adoption and/or Adjustment Issues, Anger and/or Stress Management, Anxiety and/or Depression, Cross Cultural Adjustment, Grief/Loss, Marital Difficulties, Parenting Concerns, Family Counseling.  Lisa is on most insurance panels including: Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United, Cigna, Aetna, MHN, MHNet, Humana/Life Synch, Value Options, Tricare, Medicare, Cenpatico, and Medicaid.
